Dr Deborah Munro is a senior lecturer in mechanical and biomedical engineering at the University of Canterbury. She began her career at NASA Ames Research Centre supporting the life science department with their research, such as the AX-5 all-metal spacesuit. After leaving NASA, Dr Munro worked in the fields of robotics and electrical connectors before finding her true calling in orthopaedic implants and medical devices. She holds over nine patents for her designs in the medical field. In addition to numerous technical publications on engineering-related research (https://www.canterbury.ac.nz/engineering/schools/mechanical/research/munro/), Deborah is the author of two short stories featured in the anthologies, ‘Escape’ and ‘Deception.’ She is also the winner of a publishing contract with Inkshares and Crypt TV for her sci-fi thriller, APEX, currently in the editing process for publication.
