SF before about the year 2000 has been stereotyped as a boy's club, but the field has had a large number of prominent women writers: Brackett, Moore, Russ, Le Guin, Wilhelm, Tiptree, Cherryh, and Butler just to name a few. The Library of America even produced a volume called The Future Is Female, featuring 25 stories by important writers. The panel discusses the impact of these writers, as well as others from the period who we shouldn't forget.
