STC: Cornea & External Disease Techniques for the Minor Procedure Room

How:

This course will introduce participants to common cornea and external disease procedures, many of which could be deployed in a minor procedure room by comprehensive ophthalmologists and cornea and external disease subspecialists. The course will describe the indications for each respective procedure as well as the necessary instrumentation, materials and equipment. Participants will be introduced to a surgical video detailing each technique, as well as pearls from an expert practitioner for the technique’s deployment. Common postoperative care and medication regimens will be discussed, as well as common potential complications and their respective management.  Questions from attendees with respect to each procedure will be fielded after each presented technique, along with an expert panel discussion. 

Learning Objectives 

At the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify conditions which may benefit from surgical intervention with techniques appropriate for a minor procedure room.
  • Demonstrate improved knowledge of surgical skills and techniques which may be deployed for common cornea and external disease conditions. 
  • Prescribe common postoperative medication and care regimens, as well as demonstrate knowledge in the management of common potential complications for the various techniques discussed.
