Thomas J. Cummings, M.D. is tenured Professor of Pathology and Ophthalmology, and Director of the Neuropathology and Ophthalmic Pathology divisions at Duke University Medical Center. He completed Pathology Residency and Neuropathology Fellowship at Duke. He is Vice Chair and Pathology Residency Program Director, and Secretary-Elect for the Association of Pathology Chairs Program Directors Section Council.  He is a member of the Verhoeff-Zimmerman Ophthalmic Pathology Society and the Eastern Ophthalmic Pathology Society and has hosted both societies’ annual meeting at Duke; has published over 150 papers and book chapters; won numerous teaching awards at Duke; taught and lectured on six continents; organized Ophthalmic Pathology courses at the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology; published a book ‘Eye Pathology: A Concise Guide”; contributed to the 4th and 5th editions of the World Health Organization Tumours of the Eye blue book; and, lectures for the American Association of Neuropathologists teaching rounds.
