Learning Objectives:
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- Identify common neuro-ophthalmic emergencies, including temporal arteritis, sudden ischemic vision loss, cranial nerve palsy, carotid dissection, pituitary apoplexy, intracranial hemorrhage, and papilledema/intracranial mass.
- Implement the critical first steps in management to preserve vision and prevent systemic or neurological sequelae in neuro-ophthalmic emergencies.
- Recognize the importance of timely intervention and advocate for expedited access to imaging, laboratory testing, and specialty consultation in urgent neuro-ophthalmic cases.
