Course Description: This course is designed to provide a wet lab training overview in Manual Small Incision Cataract Surgery (MSICS) for residents. It also serves as a valuable intermediary step to mastering phacoemulsification surgery. The wet lab experience will focus on wound construction techniques, anterior capsulorhexis, hydrodissection, and extracapsular techniques for nucleus extraction.

Learning Objectives
At the end of this session, participants will be able to:
1. Describe the principles of manual small incision cataract surgery (MSICS).
2. Apply a variety of wound construction techniques including conjunctival peritomies and scleral tunnels.
3. Demonstrate anterior capsulorhexis techniques such as continuous curvilinear capsulorhexis or can opener, hydrodissection, as well as different techniques for nucleus extraction, such as glide & hydroexpression, the Irrigating Vectis technique, the Simcoe Cannula technique, and the Plain Vectis technique.
