STC: Virtual Ophthalmology

In this session, participants will be exposed to current practice patterns of virtual ophthalmology. Discussion around these models, with examples, will be provided. Focus will be on how to apply the various models to individual practices and identifying appropriate patients for this method of care delivery. It will also include a discussion about novel technologies that may enable patients to test for diseases at home.

Learning Objectives:

At the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Describe 4 models of virtual ophthalmology care delivery and provide examples of each.
  • Apply one or more models of virtual ophthalmology care to their own practice.
  • Describe the characteristics of patients who would not be candidates for virtual ophthalmology.
