Corneal Ulcers - Bacterial

This module will go over the management of a corneal ulcer including initial management, choice of antibiotics, decision-making during the healing phase, and medical/surgical treatment options for various stages of ulcers.

Learning objectives

At the end of this session, participants will be able to: 

  • Describe work-up and initial management of a corneal ulcer
  • Gauge the healing of a corneal ulcer and know when a referral is needed
  • Describe surgical options that a cornea specialist may offer

This event is an Accredited Group Learning Activity (Section 1) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification program of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and approved by the Canadian Ophthalmological Society. Physicians may claim a maximum of 1.5 Section 1 credits.
