This introduction will set out the three concepts to be discussed in the following seven short presentations, all set in sites of collaboration across practice boundaries. The three key concepts are: relational expertise, the capacity to interpret problems with others; common knowledge, which consists of the motives of all the participants i.e. what matters for people from other practices; and relational agency, using that common knowledge to take action with others. Their roots in cultural-historical approaches to learning will be explained and examples provided.
