How:
This workshop offers opportunities to learn about and explore professional development tools and resources developed by a community of practice, SALTISE (Supporting Active Learning & Technological Innovation in Studies of Education). Growing out of a consortium between faculty at five Quebec post-secondary educational institutions, SALTISE has been expanding its value to the larger educational community by focusing its efforts on fostering sustainable research-practice partnerships, alongside building capacity of the community itself. In doing so, it has brought instructors and professional development staff together with educational researchers and designers to develop a curated collection of resources grounded in both learning principles and authentic implementations of evidence-based pedagogical practices. The goal of the workshop is to explore how these new types of resources can play a central role as boundary objects that afford more effective conversations between practitioners and researchers alike. We will discuss how such efforts by the SALTISE community might become part of the re-imagining of professional development as well as reflect on the processes involved in designing these resources themselves.
