Comment:
The purpose of the present study is to determine the predictive relationship between coping responses and marital adjustment among females with an infertility problem. After detail literature review it was hypothesized that the mean score of marital adjustment among women with infertility is higher than the mean score of marital adjustment in fertile women. Further, avoidance coping responses will be negatively correlated with marital adjustment and approach coping responses will be positively correlated with marital adjustment among women with infertility. In order to test this hypothesis, a sample of 60 women age range 20-35 years with infertility problem from different hospitals of the Karachi Pakistan and 60 fertile women of 20-35 years from areas of Karachi Pakistan were selected. Duration of the marriage was from 1-5 years. In order to measure coping responses of the participants Coping Responses Inventory (CRI) Adult Form and Dyadic Adjustment Scale (DAS; Spanier, 2001) was used to measure marital adjustment. To interpret results statistically t-test, person product coefficient of correlation and linear regression were applied. Results of the present study indicate that there is a significant difference between marital adjustment among women with the problem of infertility and fertile women. It has also depicted the clinically significant relationship between approach coping responses and marital adjustment.
