Rob Brown is a poet, writer, speaker, and activist from the White Earth Indian Reservation. He found his way to writing during his journey through the Minnesota correctional system, where storytelling became his survival technique. As the main protagonist of the documentary film The Seventh Fire, Rob has traveled across the country and spoken at the White House to share about his life story and his deep connection to Ojibwe culture, language, and heritage. His first collection of writing entitled White Earth Stories (2016, C&B Publications) features poetry he composed while incarcerated and photographs from The Seventh Fire. He is currently the Native American Representative for Wavelengths Recovery and is studying outreach and intervention techniques with groups including La Plazita Institute and Homeboy Industries.
