Josef Lindner has worked for the Academy Film Archive since 1998, and became Preservation Officer in 2002. At the Archive he has supervised the preservation of Jean Renoir’s The River, Otto Preminger’s The Man with the Golden Arm and William Wyler’s The Big Country. He has also worked on  many short films, including animation by John and Faith Hubley, and the Oscar winning documentaries Dylan Thomas and Lindsey Anderson’s Thursday’sChildren; as well as silent era titles like Colleen Moore’s 1927 feature Her Wild Oat.
