Visually Speaking 2: Activating the Archive

15:00, Thursday 29 Sep 2016 (1 hour 10 minutes)
NeueHouse Hollywood - Screening Room

What are the political and aesthetic possibilities of archival materials? Within a documentary context, how can they be used to not only represent history, but also reframe, contextualize or destabilize it? This session will explore the creative use of archival and found footage, and engage with how filmmakers have sculpted meaning from troves of material, opened new interpretations of historical images through their appropriation, and reworked them to comment on the medium of documentary itself.
