Many say the United States is unique in its lack of a comprehensive, intentional and effective arts and culture strategy; others are exploring new ways of thinking about the roles and responsibilities of the public sector to be in service to its artistic communities through funding, policy and support for vital cultural infrastructure. In this session we want to start a new conversation about how and where documentary filmmakers can begin to directly engage policymakers, and how we can innovate a coordinated effort to increase public funding and policy initiatives in support of the non-fiction arts.
