Theresa Navarro

POV / American Documentary
THERESA NAVARRO is an Independent Spirit Award-nominated producer and cultural worker who collaborates with educational and arts organizations around the country. She currently serves as the Program and Development Director at American Documentary, a NY-based nonprofit media arts organization that produces the award-winning nonfiction series POV on PBS and AMERICA REFRAMED on WORLD Channel, as well as interactive productions through POV Spark. Her work focuses on the lived experiences and media re/presentations of women, people of color and immigrant communities. Recent projects include: Chinatown sports documentary 9-MAN, Sundance Special Jury Award winner ADVANTAGEOUS, and Emmy-nominated nonfiction series AMERICA REFRAMED. In 2011, Theresa was nationally recognized as one of 15 Asian Pacific American Women Leaders and has been featured on panels and workshops at AFI SilverDocs, Allied Media Conference, and Hawaii International Film Festival, among others. Born and raised in the SF Bay Area, Theresa now resides in Brooklyn with her husband and infant daughter.
