Sally Jo Fifer is president and CEO and oversees a staff of 70 and the funding, co-production and distribution of more than 50 independently produced documentaries each year. Sally led the organization’s launch of the primetime Emmy Award-winning PBS series Independent Lens and its international expansion through the Global Perspectives Project, which funded over 140 international independent documentary films reaching more than 100 million viewers in two dozen countries. ITVS is also a leading driver of multi-year thematic initiatives, such as Women and Girls Lead Global, working domestically and internationally, combining broadcasts, transmedia, social, and NGO and journalism partners to advance civic dialogue and engagement.
