
David France is a best-selling author, filmmaker, and a contributing editor for New York magazine. His landmark documentary film, How to Survive a Plague, was
nominated for an Oscar and a Directors Guild Award and won Peabody, Gotham, and GLAAD awards. His latest book, a New York Times Notable Book for 2016 also called How to Survive a Plague, made
over a dozen “best books of the year” lists, won the Baillie Gifford Prize and the Green Carnation Prize for 2016, and top honors from Lambda Literary
and the Publishers’ Triangle, and was long-listed for the Wellcome Prize
in Literature and the Andrew Carnegie Medal for Excellence. His newest film, The Death and Life of Marsha P. Johnson, portrays the life of a prominent LGBTQ rights activist from the 1960's through the 1990's.
