Amada is a Central American director, cinematographer and film programmer based between El Salvador and San Diego, CA. As a filmmaker that has grieved cultural loss and displacement due to armed conflict, Amada explores the body-territory and is interested in visually mapping out personal landscapes; the practice of documenting forms of community and life affirming moments is an important component in their media art work. Amada has produced films that have been featured at Blackstar Film Festival, New Orleans Film Festival, Skirball Cultural Center in LA, amongst others. Amada is a 2021 JustFilms Ford Foundation/Rockwood Institute Fellow, a Brown Girls Doc Mafia member and Vona Voices Alumni. Amada is a member of the Global Impact Producers Assembly (GIPA) and is currently developing their first feature film: Vena Aquatica, a finalist at the IF/THEN Global Pitch Competition on Environmental Stories at the 2019 International Documentary Festival Amsterdam (IDFA).
