Cai Thomas is a Liberty City (read Moonlight) native residing in Brooklyn, New York. A NextDoc 2018 fellow, she is currently in production on an untitled short following young activists in Chicago working to rename Stephen Douglas Park. In her upcoming work Cai is interested in telling the stories at the intersection of identity, self-determination and location. Her short Blake Bolden debuted on NESN in 2015 telling the story of the CWHL’s first black draft pick. While at Boston College she was a Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholar. She’s currently a production associate at CBS Sunday Morning contributing her unique sensibilities and curiosities to the newsmagazine show. This past fall she was a Berlin Capital Fulbright awardee immersed in German culture. Prior to joining CBS she was a production fellow on the APM Reports/Washington Post podcast Historically Black.
