Mara Adina is a creative producer and founder of Vernon Films where her primary focus is to push the boundaries of hybrid filmmaking and collaborate with creative voices who seek to devise new ways of arriving at story. She started her career in the Middle East, as one of the first female directors behind the camera at KTV, working on a variety of live TV, documentary series and feature projects. Upon her return to the UK she produced Counterpart, the first English-language film directed by two-time BAFTA- winning director and Golden Bear winner Adrian Sitaru which opened at Clermont Ferrand International Film Festival 2014. Mara produced Ilinca Calugareanu’s debut feature film Chuck Norris vs Communism which premiered in competition at Sundance 2015 and is currently playing on Netflix. She recently became a Sundance Creative Producing Fellow and is currently in production with Ilinca’s second feature A Cops and Robbers Story (supported by the Sundance Institute and Chicken and Egg Pictures) and I Am (Sundance Institute). Mara is led by a belief that stories can affect change and drive a shift in modern consciousness. She is always searching for unique edgy stories, run by auteur directors and is currently working on a slate of feature documentaries, films and series primarily helmed by female creatives.
