Heather Courtney is a Guggenheim fellow and an Emmy-winning filmmaker. Her POV-broadcasted documentary WHERE SOLDIERS COME FROM won an Emmy and an Independent Spirit Award. She has directed/produced several other documentary films for PBS including award-winners LETTERS FROM THE OTHER SIDE and LOS TRABAJADORES. Her work has been supported by the Sundance Edit and Story Lab, ITVS, the Sundance Documentary Fund, the United States Artists Fellowship, the Ford and MacArthur Foundations, and a Fulbright Fellowship. Her latest feature documentary THE UNAFRAID, co-directed and produced with Anayansi Prado, follows the lives of three DACA students. It premiered at the Full Frame Documentary Film Festival, where it won the Human Rights Award, and was closing night film at the Human Rights Watch Film Fest in New York.
