Alexandra Johnes

A primetime Emmy-winning producer, Alexandra’s recent films include developing, packaging and producing THE MARS GENERATION for Time Inc, producing CNN Films’ HOLY HELL, and executive producing A24 and Universal’s critically-acclaimed, indie box office hit THE WITCH. All three films premiered at Sundance and were sold to major distributors prior to or on the heels of their Sundance premieres.


In addition to prominent festival recognition, Johnes’ films have received several awards and nominations, including an Oscar nomination for THE SQUARE, a DGA award, several Independent Spirit Awards, and multiple Peabody Awards and Emmys, including a Primetime Emmy for Exceptional Merit in Documentary Filmmaking for MEA MAXIMA CULPA: SILENCE IN THE HOUSE OF GOD.


Production and distribution partners on her films have included Magnolia Pictures, Participant Media, Netflix Originals, Disney, A24, Universal, CNN Films, A&E, ITVS, BBC, ZDF/ARTE, Optimum Releasing, Film Rise, and HBO.


From 2007 – 2012, Alexandra ran Alex Gibney’s company, Jigsaw Productions, managing all aspects of development and production and paving the way for Jigsaw’s 2012 sale to Content Media Corp. Since leaving Jigsaw, Alexandra has similarly supported multiple directors in building out their companies, including Lauren Greenfield, Jehane Noujaim, Amy Ziering & Kirby Dick.  She most recently supported Ziering & Dick on their Netflix Originals investigative documentary THE BLEEDING EDGE about the med-tech industry, as well as their current project THE JANE DOE PROJECT, exploring sexual abuse and assault in the entertainment industry.


In the summer of 2018, joined Eaton Workshop, as VP of Media & Culture – Production & Strategy, overseeing media & culture globally, as well as impact & wellness, for a new purpose-driven company at the intersection of hospitality, media, radio, music, culture, radical wellness and progressive social change.


She is a member of the documentary branch of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences.
