Samara Chadwick

documentary filmmaker, independent programmer

Samara is a documentary filmmaker, independent programmer, and scholar. She has a PhD in Cultural Studies and has programmed films and conferences for HotDocs, the Montreal International Documentary Festival (RIDM), the Goethe-Institute, the (Occupied) Berlin Biennale, and the Points North Institute/Camden International Film Festival (CIFF).

Her debut feature documentary, 1999, produced by Parabola Films (Canada), Beauvoir Films (Switzerland), and the National Film Board of Canada, premiered in 2018 at Visions du réel, and has since played festivals worldwide including HotDocs, DokuFest Kosovo, BAFICI, and the Museum of the Moving Image.

She is currently curating NEW NATURE, a Climate Science and Immersive Technologies Exchange between scientists, artists and technologists from Canada, Germany, Mexico, and the US, lead by the Goethe-Institut​.
