As documentary filmmakers recognize their power to influence narratives that affect the lives of those around them, it is important to consider not only what stories are told and who is telling them, but how stories are told. Ethical filmmakers ensure their storytelling and business practices are rooted in accuracy, transparency, respect and accountability. Led by a working group representing filmmakers, professors, funders and impact producers, this session will introduce a framework for values-based filmmaking and share examples of how filmmakers might put those values into practice. The vision for this group is, ultimately, the refinement and adoption of these principles throughout the nonfiction field.

Closed Captioning available for this session. ASL interpretation available upon request.
