Populism can broadly be understood as a political concept that proposes that the privileged elite (broadly including established politicians, the rich and the intellectuals) are corrupt and exploit the ordinary person . In 2016 populism manifested in the left (Sanders and Corbyn) and right, but the right "won". Following the election of Trump, Brexit, and the rise of populist political parties across Europe we ask if populism impacts upon the way creators produce the work, and readers and viewers interact with it. We also ask how fannish communities are changed when populism enters the political arena as a dominant force.
