Across Turtle Island (Canada), school food initiatives that champion traditional food, knowledge and skills are connecting students to food, place, culture and community. Presenters will share how they brought traditional foods and learning into western educational contexts in culturally appropriate, locally-led and sustainable ways. How the students’ relationship to food has been supported and the opportunities for cross-cultural learning, well-being and social entrepreneurship will be discussed.
