Raised on a family farm in Ontario, I moved to the UK in 2001 to undertake PhD work on the sociology of agriculture. I am currently a Research Leader at the James Hutton Institute in Aberdeen, Scotland, where I lead a team of scientists who focus on agri-environmental decision-making, sustainability transitions and social justice within the agricultural sector (particularly in relation to new entrants, gender and land reform).  I am a Visiting Professor at the University of Guelph, sponsored by the Arrell Food Institute and the College of Social and Applied Human Sciences (2018-2020). At the conference, I will be speaking about contemporary Land Reform Processes in Scotland, where Scottish Government is pursuing supports for increased transparency in land ownership and community right to buy.
