The Geomatics Engineering Students' Society at the University of Calgary proudly presents its inaugural GIS Hackathon for first-year engineering students. This unique event aims to stimulate innovation and creative problem-solving while also promoting geomatics education among first-year students. Prior to the competition, teams are paired with upper-year geomatics engineering students and participate in a series of workshops designed to enhance their knowledge of geomatics and prepare them for the challenge ahead. On the day of the competition, teams are presented with a problem of current societal relevance and challenged to create a solution using geospatial technologies in under 24 hours. Join us on November 7th at 5:30 PM on the trade show floor during the GoGeomatics Meetup, where top teams will present their solutions, and exciting prizes await the winners.
