buildingSMART Canada Annual BIM Summit

This presentation delves into two key initiatives underway by buildingSMART Canada:  The Digital Transformation for Bridges and a Digital Construction Platform at the National Research Council of Canada.

A "Digital Transformation for Bridges Workshop," organized by buildingSMART Canada to unify bridge asset owners across federal, provincial, and municipal levels.  The need to overcome the challenges in integrating diverse data ecosystems and managing information across departments, a hurdle that international standard ISO 19650 and openBIM standards can help address by enabling smoother interoperability and reducing data silos.

The NRC engaged buildingSMART Canada to develop a Roadmap for the Digitalization of National Construction Codes and Development of a National Common Data Framework.  This session will be the first presentation of the report, which sets the foundation for improved data management systems, enhancing Building Information Modelling (BIM) compatibility, ensuring Common Data Environment (CDE) interoperability, and integrating API connections for seamless information exchanges among the different stakeholders within the Canadian built asset industry.
