Riparian Web Portal: Harnessing Geomatics for Watershed Conservation
My Session Status
At its core, the portal integrates innovative GIS-based assessments from six watershed agencies, covering over 60,000 km of riparian areas ranging from high to very low intactness levels. This approach not only provides detailed condition data but also supports informed decision-making in riparian management.
A key feature of the portal is its interactive map feature, where users can explore real-world restoration and conservation projects contributed by local organizations and municipalities. Each project entry includes detailed narratives, photographs, timelines, and sponsors, enriching public engagement and awareness. Moreover, the portal serves as a centralized hub linking users to over 75 resources, including grants and incentive programs, aimed at empowering landowners to undertake meaningful actions for riparian enhancement.
This presentation will showcase significant milestones achieved in the development of the Riparian Web Portal, underscoring its pivotal role in advancing watershed management through geomatics. Additionally, the presentation will outline the broader context of the NSWA's riparian strategy, emphasizing its community-driven approach.
