Kirsten Mattison

Director General
Infrastructure Canada

Dr. Kirsten Mattison is the Director General of the Centre for Rural Economic Development (Infratructure Canada). From 2005 to 2020, before joining CENRED, she led many initiatives in science, regulatory and policy roles supporting food safety, environmental protection, biosecurity for human pathogens and toxins, and substance use policies.

Kirsten is committed to modernizing federal government programs and services to better meet the needs of stakeholders who feel disconnected or even disenfranchised when faced with corporate bureaucracy. This, among other elements, draws her to the implementation of the Rural Economic Development Strategy.
