Ms. Aqua is a Principal with PwC US who advises global executives and boards on data privacy, data governance, data localization, and the AI governance regulatory landscape. She develops and implements global privacy programs, AI governance programs, and manages enterprise-wide data and technology transformation and remediation efforts. She also provides operational guidance on the implementation of transnational data flow mechanisms such as EU Standard Contractual Clauses, Global/APEC cross border rules and EU Binding Corporate Rules. Previously, as the Data, Privacy and Ethics Leader, PwC US Products and Technology, Ms. Aqua established an office of 40+ professionals responsible for implementing first-line organizational capabilities related to data governance, data privacy, ethical data use, accessibility, inclusive design, and AI governance. Under her stewardship, her team worked collaboratively with product and digital asset teams to drive product innovation aligned with US and global regulatory requirements.
Ms. Aqua is a former US government privacy official and prosecutor with 15 years of public sector regulatory compliance, data privacy and cybersecurity experience. During that time, she held senior privacy and cybersecurity positions within the Department of Justice National Security and Criminal Divisions, and with the Intelligence Community’s Office of the Director of National Intelligence. She also represented the government in negotiations and consultations with the European Commission on numerous cross-border data transfers and US and EU data sharing agreements.
