Vasilios A. Siris is the Director of the Computer and Communications Systems Division at the Department of Informatics and a member of the Mobile Multimedia Laboratory at the Athens University of Economics and Business, Greece. He was the Principal Investigator and/or had a coordinating role in many research and development projects funded by the European Union, the Greek government, and the industry, in the areas of wireless/mobile networks, traffic measurement and analysis, and the Internet of Things. His current project SOFIE (Secure Open Federation for Internet Everywhere) is funded by the EU’s H2020 programme and has the main goal to enable diversified applications from various sectors to utilize heterogeneous IoT platforms across technological, organizational and administrative borders. A key focus of SOFIE is to investigate interledger mechanisms to interconnect blockchains and Distributed Ledger Technologies (DLTs), while supporting privacy and trusted communication.

Vasilios has a PhD from the University of Crete, Greece and a M.S. degree in Computer Science from Northeastern University, Boston, USA. He was a Visiting Researcher at the Statistical Laboratory of the University of Cambridge and the research laboratories of British Telecommunications (BT), UK. He has over 120 publications in international peer reviewed journals and conferences, in addition to one international and two Greek patents in the area of resource management in wireless and mobile networks.
