Kees Lokhorst is senior researcher at Wageningen Livestock Research and professor on Herd Management and Smart Dairy Farming at Van Hall Larenstein University of Applied science. His research is focused on the possibilities of ICT and sensor information to support farmers in their daily management. After his study of agricultural engineering he started to work at Wageningen Research and he developed a broad network in pig, poultry, dairy and arable farming. Kees is involved in several national and international research programs concerning transition processes in livestock farming systems. Developing, testing, implementation and economic consequences of knowledge intensive systems was studied in various application areas and farming systems. Within the Internet of Things project IoF2020 Kees is currently ecosystem chair in the dairy trial. Kees is involved in the European Committee for Precision Livestock Farming (ECPLF) and contributed to the organization of several national and international conferences.
