Lucio Scudiero is a qualified lawyer, specialized in Personal Data Protection Law and European Law, a subject on which he has an LL.M. completed at the University of Leiden (NL).

Lucio advises national and international clients from different industries on issues having a particular focus on the protection of personal data; amongst the many, he provides legal counselling within the IoT, robotics and smart cities domains, on cloud computing, marketing and profiling, e-health, data transfers outside the EU, whistleblowing, workers’ remote control. Furthermore, he works with Mandat International, Archimede Solutions and ECCP within several European research projects in the field of ICT, IoT, Cybersecurity and Smart Cities, funded under the Horizon2020 Framework Program.

He trained at the Policy and Consultation Unit of the European Data Protection Supervisor and is a Data Protection Officer certified by TÜV Italy.

Lucio also served within the legislative office of a parliamentary group during the XVI legislature (2008-2013) of the Italian Parliament, dealing with, among other issues, the reform of the rules governing telemarketing.

He combines a sound knowledge of the EU data protection legal framework with a research and policy oriented approach; he regularly intervenes in the policy debate regarding privacy and digital issues in Italy, and publishes articles on international law reviews and journals.
