Davide Bacciu (http://pages.di.unipi.it/bacciu) is Assistant Professor of Machine Learning at the Computer Science Department, University di Pisa. His research interests concern the design of machine learning models for structured domains and the development of distributed learning systems for the processing of sensor-data time-series, with applications to IoT, ambient assisted living, smart transportation and healthy ageing. He has been leading researcher of the EU FP7 projects RUBICON and DOREMI and he is currently coordinator of the Italian national project LISTIT (MIUR-SIR program, 2016-2019) on the design of machine learning models generalizing supervised learning to tree structured domains. He has co-authored over 60 research papers published on international journals, conference proceedings and book chapters in the fields of machine learning and computational intelligence, and he has been member of several program committees of conferences and workshops. He has delivered invited presentations in highly reputed research centres, including University of Heidelberg, Royal Statistical Society and Kings College London. He is the recipient of the 2009 E. R. Caianiello Award for the best Italian Ph.D. thesis on Neural Networks. Since 2015, he is in the Steering Board of the Italian Association for Artificial Intelligence.
