Dr. John Farserotu received the BSEE degree from the University of Maryland (1983), the MSEE from George Washington University (1985) and Doctorate from the Delft University of Technology (1998). He is the Head of the Wireless Program in the Integrated and Wireless Systems Division at CSEM in Switzerland. He is also the Chair of the ETSI Technical Committee (TC) SmartBAN and previously the Vice-Chair of ETSI eHealth. He was been the Coordinator (CO) and / or project manager (PM) of various EU projects including FP7 Go4Time (CO), FP7 TeraTOP (CO) and H2020 M3TERA (PM). He is also the Research Coordinator of the Hermes Partnership, a European Centre of Excellence in the domain of wireless communications and networks, author / co-author of over 100 publications, co-author of a book on Mobile Satellite over internet Protocol (IP)/Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) Networks and he teaches a course on the subject at the Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne (EPFL).
