Dr. Levent Gürgen is R&D project coordinator in CEA-LETI. He is currently coordinating 2 European – Japanese collaborative projects on Internet of Things and Smart Cities, namely FESTIVAL (www.festival-project.eu) and BigClouT (http://bigclout.eu), involving leader institutions in Europe and in Japan. In the past, he coordinated another EU-Japan project, ClouT, for which he has been awarded by the French Ministry of Research and Education as one of the 12 “Stars of Europe”. His projects aim at using cloud computing and big data as enablers for exploiting the potential of the Internet of Things in the context of smart cities.

Levent obtained his PhD degree in computer science from the Grenoble Institute of Technology in 2007. His main research interests include sensor data processing and service-oriented platforms for Internet of Things.
