George Kotrotsios is member of the Executive Board of CSEM, a major Swiss R&I facility in microelectronics, nanotechnology and photovoltaics. He is charge of commercialization of Research and to optimize the usefulness of the R&D for the industry.
In 2015 he has been elected individual member of the Swiss Academy of
Engineering Sciences.
He sits in the Executive Board EARTO (European Association of Research
and Technology Organisation) as well as in the Executive Board of EREA
(the European Association of Aeronautics Research Centers). He is also
member of the Board of Directors of CSEM do Brazil and Femto Engineering
in France.
For 2016 he chairs the Alliance of Fraunhofer-Microelectronics,
CEA-LETI, VTT and CSEM on Smart Systems (HTA).
His background is in optical fiber sensors, technology and lasers. He
holds a Ph.D. Degree in Optoelectronics, Institut National Polytechnique
de Grenoble (Fr), an Executive MBA in Management of Technology, HEC –
Université de Lausanne/EPFL (CH) and an Electrical Engineering Degree
from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Gr).
Georges Kotrotsios holds a Ph.D. Degree in Optoelectronics, Institut
National Polytechnique de Grenoble (Fr), an Executive MBA in Management
of Technology, HEC - Université de Lausanne/EPFL (CH) and an Electrical
Engineering Degree from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Gr).
Within CSEM, a major Swiss Research Facility, he conducted several years
applied R&D in the field of optical fiber communications, sensors and
lasers between1985 and 1995. Between 1996 and 1999, he joined M3D SA, a
joint venture of Mitsubishi Corporation and Battelle. He developed a new
start-up on fiber optic sensors. He joined again CSEM at the end of
1999; He is in charge of the Marketing and Business Development of the
company since April 2005. From January 1st, 2010 he is in member of the
Executive Committee of CSEM and is one of the three members of the
Bureau of CTO of CSEM.
