Dr. Miquel Payaró received the Electrical Engineering and the Ph.D. degrees from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), Barcelona, Spain, in 2002 and 2007, respectively. From January 2009 he has been with CTTC, where he is the Head of the Communications Technologies Division. Since 2009, Miquel has led and participated in several research contracts with the industry and in research projects both from the Spanish National research program and from the Framework Program of the EC, such as BuNGee, BeFEMTO, Newcom#, or, more recently, within the 5G PPP, Miquel participated in Flex5Gware where he served as technical manager and is actively engaged in the projects 5GCroCo (as Project Coordinator) and MARSAL (as Project Manager). From September 2017 to December 2019, Miquel was a board member of the 5G Infrastructure Association (5G IA) and represented CTTC in the steering boards of NetWorld2020 and Wireless World Research Forum (WWRF). Miquel's research interests include design, implementation, and experimental validation of wireless interfaces with a focus on 5G and its evolutions towards 6G. He is an IEEE senior member, editor of the IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications and has participated in the organization of several international conferences.
