SECURITY AND PRIVACY THREATS IN A HYPER CONNECTED WORLD

When:
11:45 AM, Wednesday 1 Sep 2021 (1 hour)
How:

Internet of Things (IoT), 5G and the digitalization process, is an emerging paradigm that seamlessly integrates a large number of smart objects with the Internet creating a world of connected devices. It adopts novel processing and communication architecture, technologies and management strategies. New systems could leverage wireless sensor network to collect and process data, and could employ cloud technologies, peer to peer systems to provide computation capability, edge/fog solution for distributed computation and new pervasive solutions.

However, this new paradigm also brings many security and privacy issues such as data and personal information confidentiality, authentication and authorization, and secure communication and computation. This session will discuss these security and privacy challenges, discuss new threats like privacy breach, unauthorized access, data manipulation, and mitigation strategies basedon AI based approaches. Also the relevance of the standards in the process of security and privacy frameworks and the impact on regulatory aspects.
