Ruben Roex is the Practice Assistant for the research group Law & Technology. He uses his experience as a lawyer to pragmatically assist students in the course ‘Skills IV’ to help them draft correct legal advice for student-entrepreneurs and start-ups who struggle with legal questions. Ruben also participates in different activities within Ghent University that relate to the broad domain of IT Law.
Ruben is also a practicing lawyer at the law firm Timelex in Brussels. He advises clients on complex questions regarding data protection, cyber security and cybercrime. He also has a deep knowledge of IT contracting, verification services (such as electronic signatures, electronic archiving, authentication, etc.), trade secrets and consumer law. Finally, he has an interest in the legal aspects of electronic payments, FinTech and other payment innovations.
