Sagar Sen is a Senior Research Scientist (2020 -) at the Green-IoT systems group in SINTEF Digital, Norway. He is primarily interested in conducting research and developing software/hardware in the area of AI Engineering for the Internet of Things. His current  project portfolio includes a) two EU projects on smart manufacturing (InterQ and Dat4.0) where he and his team creates virtual sensors to repair erroneous sensor data b) a project on the Internet of Underwater of Things for AI-driven signal recovery in underwater communication c) a project on developing AI models of fish growth based on data from multiple sensors in land-based aquaculture.  Previously he has been the co-founder and VP of Product Development at Sweetzpot (2015-2019), a startup developing a Bluetooth force sensor along with smart mobile apps to interpret force signals from breathing, bending of equipment like the rowing oar, and forces in ship towing ropes. He has also been a senior research scientist at Simula Research Labs (2012-2020) where he conceived software interventions to validate the processing of thousands of customs transactions per day at Norwegian Toll Customs and improve privacy measures and increase cervical cancer screening attendance of over 2 million eligible women at the Cancer Registry of Norway. He holds a Ph.D. from INRIA Rennes (2007-2010) on design space exploration in software/model-driven engineering and a M.Sc. (2004-2006, Commonwealth fellow) from McGill University, Canada on modelling and simulation of engineered physical systems.
