Digital Platforms have a disruptive impact on industry value chains and organisations which are the providers and users of digital platforms. In order to take advantage of the opportunities and control the risks of change, innovative business models are needed to adapt the business and operational processes, redefining the customer journey and value proposition, discovering new channels and stakeholders engagement models, and creating innovative monetization models. However, development of a proper business model to accelerate the commercialization of the digital platformis challenging and not a straightforward journeyfor many European projects including the large-scale pilots of digital platforms.

This panel organized by OPEN DEI project in collaboration with EU-IoT project and AIOTI project aims at analysing and discussing the potential business models for digital platforms through generation of new revenue mechanisms for data monetization, new value proposal generations through innovative platform-based services and novelties for value-chain integrated business models to facilitate data and information exchange among numerous stakeholders of digital platforms. During the panel the results of a Business model co-design workshop for digital platforms organized in May 2022 to provide support to OPEN DEI projects to develop a first archetype of business model for four different domains of manufacturing, agrifood, energy and healthcare will be presented too.
