Dr. Ovidiu Vermesan holds a Ph.D. degree in microelectronics and a Master of International Business (MIB) degree. He is Chief Scientist at SINTEF DIGITAL, Oslo, Norway. His research interests are in the area of embedded electronics, communication systems, connectivity and IoT platforms. He is currently working with projects addressing nanoelectronics, integrated sensor/actuator autonomous systems, communication, cyber-physical systems, and IoT with applications in green mobility, energy, healthcare, oil and gas and buildings. He has authored or co-authored over 80 technical articles and conference papers. He is actively involved in the activities of the Electronic Components and Systems for European Leadership (ECSEL) Joint Technology Initiative (JTI) and coordinated large-scale projects focussing on developing electronics and communication solutions in various application area such as energy (ARTEMIS-Internet of Energy), electro mobility/electric vehicles architectures (ENIAC-E3Car, ARTEMIS-POLLUX). Dr. Vermesan is actively participating in national and international/H2020 EU initiatives and fora focusing on strategic work for the development of future ICT technologies and Digitising Industry processes. He is active partner and coordinator in  the IoT European Research Cluster (IERC), IoT-European Platforms Initiative (IoT-EPI), IoT-European Large-Scale Pilots Programme and the Alliance for Internet of Things Innovation (AIOTI).
