Transformative Fandom
Loki is very popular, even though he is an evil murdering mind rapist. Sexy male characters, particularly those who are part of a slash pairing, are adored in fandom and are often woobified. This means they are written, illustrated, and reimagined in situations where they can be feminised, dominated, hurt (and comforted), and infantilised. Hannibal (the TV show), Draco Malfoy (Harry Potter), Loki (MCU), Iron Man (MCU), Spike (Buffy The Vampire Slayer), and Lex Luthor (Smallville) are examples. We explore the fun of woobifying characters, but also the problematic elements and the many commonalities between them.
