Comma Press Presents: (Don't) Ask the Scientist
How often has new or future tech been deployed by SF-type narratives in ways that would make real scientists shudder? And does it really matter if writers sometimes get the science wrong, or stray far beyond the realistically possible? Maybe that's the point. For this panel scientists, and historians of science, discuss examples of bad (and good!) uses of science in popular fiction and film, and ask the question: should the S and F of SF be slightly closer together?
