Black LGBTQIA+ playwrights live at the intersection of two identities that are underrepresented in commercial theatre, forcing them to work even harder than many other artists to have their work recognized. This panel features two playwrights who are breaking through: Jordan E. Cooper, whose play Ain’t No Mo’ was presented at the Public Theater in 2019; and Pace University Professor Keelay Gipson, who's written such plays as Newslaves, imagine Sisyphus happy, and The Lost, or How To Just B. In this panel, they'll discuss what drives their work and what keeps them moving towards their goals.
