Stephen Byrd and Alia Jones-Harvey with Front Row Productions have been the only Black lead producers on Broadway for 15 years. In that time, they've produced all-Black productions of plays traditionally cast with white actors, such as Cat on a Hot Tin Roof "(starring James Earl Jones, Phylicia Rashad, and Anika Noni Rose) and A Streetcar Named Desire (starring Blair Underwood as Stanley), The Trip To Bountiful (starring Cicely Tyson) and Romeo and Juliet (starring Condola Rashad as Juliet). Other magnificent productions have included Eclipsed, Cirque du Soleil Paramour, The Iceman Cometh (with Denzel Washington), American Son (with Kerry Washington), and currently, Ain't Too Proud. Come and learn how they got started, what they look for in a project, and how they go about doing the fantastic work that they do!
